Autobiography
My name is Sara. I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, in June 1996. I went to high school at the Academy for Math, Engineering & Science (AMES) and will graduate with the class of 2014.
I am the oldest of four girls, my parents got divorced while I was in high school, and my mother will be remarrying by the time I graduate this year. I enjoy volunteering at the Natural History Museum of Utah, have been a violist since 2008, and love to write (both creative and academic works).
While many people didn't enjoy their high school experience, or feel indifferent towards it, I am very grateful for mine. I feel like high school is where I have done the most growing and developing so far in my life. I don't think I would have turned out very differently as a person if I'd attended a different high school, but I'm grateful for the helpful, open-minded environment AMES has provided.
This fall I will begin attending Salt Lake Community College, and I plan on serving a mission in a year, when I turn 19. After that, I would like to major in anthropology, and want to pursue a career as an elementary school teacher.
While I have a pretty solid goal of becoming a teacher, I'm looking forward to the new experiences and people along the way, and even when I get there, I want to continue trying new things. Variety is the spice of life, and life is meant to be lived and enjoyed.
